Nestled at the height of 3810 meters which is about 12,500 feet; this is an ideal trekking trail that covers a consolidated distance of 20 km. The distance is not much, and the trekking trail is neither challenging, which enables even the first time trekkers to set on the adventure and enjoy the beauty of nature at its best.

 

With charming and captivating sights of snow-capped the Himalayas, the verdant greenery, lush landscapes, diverse collection of flora, frozen ponds, to the sights of mesmerising peaks, this trek has all the delightful marvels that a trekker wish to experience and view in his journey. The adventure seekers and trekkers enjoy thrilling challenges, but the Kedarkantha Trek is also an ideal destination for the nature lovers to bask in the beauty of undisturbed nature and enjoy delightful and blissful moments with exhilarating experiences. Based on Western Garhwal in the Uttarakashi district, the Kedarkantha Trek is known for being one of the country's easy treks that can be attended by inexperienced trekkers or by those who have no prior knowledge of trekking.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 - Dehradun To Sankri Via Road

    • The hiking commences from Sankri. Having an early start after a healthy breakfast at the hotel, its a journey straight towards Juda Ka Talab which is based at an altitude of 9100 feet. Its a 4km trekking journey and the approximate time for reaching the same is around 5 hours. Crossing few streams and continuing through the trail and rising sharp through dense oaks one can reach the beautiful pictorial spot of Juda Ka Talab which can never be missed by any trekker due to its sharp contrasting and unique beauty.
    • One can engage in activities like photography or nature walk to explore the area fullest. At the night time, a campfire can also be a good idea to share the light supper some warm drinks underneath the clear sky. The night sky, however, is a treat to the eyes with bright and shining stars creating a magnificent aura which is enjoyable for all trekkers. Overnight sleep is arranged in comfortable Swiss tents.

Day 2 - Trek To Juda Ka Talab From Sankri

    • The trekking trip commences from Sankri only. Having an early start after a healthy breakfast at the hotel its a journey straight towards Juda Ka Talab which is based at an altitude of 9100 feet. Its a 4km trekking journey and the approximate time for reaching the same is around 5 hours. The night sky however is a treat to the eyes with bright and shining stars creating a magnificent aura which is enjoyable for all trekkers. Overnight sleep is arranged in tents.

Day 3 - Trek From Juda-Ka-Talab To Kedarkantha Base Camp

    • The intoxicating journey continues, today the trekkers are destined to trek towards Kedarkantha base which lies at an altitude of 11,250 feet. The distance from Jadu Ka Talab to this destination is about 4 km and in a moderate speed, it takes about 2.5 hours to reach the place.
    • After having the morning breakfast set out for the next journey where the trail is somewhat straight forward and quite visible. The track again begins through dense forests of pine and oak trees only and through the steep ridge and much more dense areas. In the midst, one can take a long break to re-energize the body and get the enthralling view of natural extravaganza in the area. Just before reaching the Kedarkantha Base, one can enjoy the fascinating views of the arc-shaped range of snow-capped mountains comprising of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana standing out proudly showcasing their beauty.
    • After reaching the base, we will set up the tent in a preferred selected place which is open and one can enjoy a clear view of the night sky. As the night grows the sight becomes more charming with the Milky Way stretching from one end to the other, the dense network of stars and the glistening peak of the mountain all come together to provide an awe-striking view that remains imprinted in mind. Overnight sleep at the camps.

Day 4 - Trek from Kedarkantha Base to Kedarkantha Peak & then Descend back to Base Camp

    • The fourth day of the trek is destined to conquer the Kedarnath Peak. Today the trekkers need to hike an elevation from 11,250 feet to 12,500 feet. The schedule of the day includes hiking to Kedarkantha peak and then again descending back till Hargaon camp which is based at 8900 feet. The total journey comprises of 6 km all together and takes about 7 hours of time at a moderate speed.
    • The day begins early with a filling breakfast and then we will enjoy the sunrise from the Kedarkantha meadows which is literally amazing, pure and divine. At the top of the peak, there is a beautiful yet small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. There is a small shrine of Lord Ganesh too. The stunning 360-degree view of the snow-clad peaks of Uttarakhand is intoxicating and beyond words to be penned down.
    • One can relax at the top for some time and enjoy the magical beauty of nature and then descend towards base camp by evening.
    •  After reaching the camp take a break for lunch and refreshments. Mark the end of another delightful day with a delicious stomach-filling dinner in front of a bonfire and enjoy the night time ambience chatting and having a good time with the other fellow trekkers.

Day 5 - Trek from Kedarkantha Base Camp to Sankri

    • Today the schedule is marked for descending further to Sankri, which is descending from 8900 feet to 6400 feet. The distance is approximately 6 km long which takes about 4 hours or more to accomplish at a moderate speed.
    • After having the breakfast, pack the backpack to descend furthermore, through, there is a more clearly marked well-paved pathway, laden with small stones. One can explore the place more and enjoy photographing the lovely scenery throughout the trail. One can also enjoy the sights of beautiful flora and fauna and take quick snaps of the same to retain the memories.
    • On reaching the Sankri, get back to your hotel/guesthouse and freshen up and get settled for the day. If the enthusiasm stays, one can again get out exploring the village to collect some local items to keep as a souvenir of the location. Overnight stay at the guesthouse.

Day 6 - Drive From Sankri To Dehradun

    • The last day of the trek is the departure day where the trekkers need to travel back to Dehradun. The vehicle will be provided. Pack the bags and take all the belongings and check out of the hotel by 8 AM approximately so that the journey to Dehradun can be started early. The drive takes about 10 hours to reach, excluding the break times, so the earlier one starts their travel back to the city, it's always the better.
    • The drive back to Dehradun ends around 7:00 PM. The vacationers can be off boarded either at the railway station or at the airport as per their convenience.

    • Change of trek batch is dependent on the availability of seats in the batch.
    • In case of transferring a trek to a friend, he/she should satisfy all the mandatory requirements put forward by The Seller.

    • Any kind of emergency evacuation charges will be paid by the customer.
    • Normally the seller expects to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule. Charges of offloading backpack :-
      • INR 1500/- if you make an online payment to the seller, 10 days in advance.
      • INR 1800/- if you inform seller after reaching Sankri.
      • The backpack cannot weigh more than 11 kgs. The backpack should have a waterproof cover. Suitcases/strolleys/bags will not be allowed.

    • If you don't know much about the place then don't roam around without a guide because mountains are unpredictable.
    • Avoid any kind of anti-religious comments and activity to respect the local religion, local people as well as your batch mates.
    • Carry your identity proofs like Aadhaar card, PAN card, Voter ID etc.
    • Follow the Guidelines issued by the State-Government during your whole journey.
    • Maintain soial distancing in all manners.
